Social Protection is all efforts made by the government to prevent, reduce, and handle the risks and challenges faced by every citizen from social shocks and vulnerabilities during their lifetime.
In providing social protection for all Indonesian people, the government formulated 3 social protection system schemes, consisting of:
1. Non-contributory scheme/social assistance, which is financed by the government budget,
2. A contributory/social security scheme, which is financed through the payment of contributions from participants,
3. Employment and livelihood-related programme schemes that can be funded by the government and/or private sector aimed at improving access to more stable and decent employment/livelihoods, for example by providing vocational training or opening up access to skilled employment.
